- Prepare and analyze periodic management reporting of financial results for assigned functional areas, including calculations related to confidential business matters.
- Prepare and analyze consolidated reporting at all levels of the organization on actuals, forecasts and prior fiscal year.
- Perform account analysis and reconciliation, maintain general ledger and prepare adjusting entries and month-end accruals.
- Support close processes (accruals, prepaids, etc.) to ensure predictable and accurate reporting.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting in accordance with IFRS, internal policies and meets federal regulatory requirements.
- Analyze actual operating results and identify key financial and operating issues to be addressed; quantify actual results versus forecast.
- Prepare monthly commentary for functional and business unit or segment reporting.
- Ensure accurate preparation of monthly HST reconciliations, file HST returns, and ensure remittances in a timely manner.
- Prepare timely and accurate weekly bank reconciliations, cash flow analysis, and forecast.
- Conduct an analysis of periodic KPIs and operating statistics.
- Consolidate the confidential information provided by the business units and maintain a clear record for future reference during annual operating and capital budget process.
- Liaise and work with other departments and external partners to perform accounting tasks.
- Coordinate with external auditors and assist in the preparation of related deliverables,
- Monitor and interpret federal policies, regulatory changes and financial directives affecting the organization.
- Assist in developing and implementation of an internal control and audit system on an ongoing basis.
- Prepare the quarterly and annual regulatory compliance deliverables and documentation
- Assist in pension funds deliverables and compliance.
- Assist in the continued development of budgeting, financial forecasting, operating plan and modeling tools relating to confidential business matters.
- Develop financial modeling, financial statement analysis, decision modeling, reporting and ad-hoc analysis to support strategic planning and initiatives.
- Perform special projects to develop and implement internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Identify opportunities to continuously improve financial processes, tools and reporting systems to enhance efficiency and data accuracy.
- Contribute to the development of financial planning and analysis methodologies, templates and best practices across the organization.
- Support ad-hoc accounting and financial analysis tasks.
- Post-secondary education in Commerce and an accounting designation such as CPA, CA, CGA or CMA, or equivalent.
- Minimum 3-5 years of progressive financial/accounting experience conducting financial reporting and analysis.
- Technical accounting skills in IFRS, maintain highest professional ethics and standards.
- Significant experience with identifying trends and anomalies in data sets.
- Strong experience analyzing financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
- Superior interpersonal skills, able to interact with all levels in a professional, positive manner, able to build trusting relationships and be a team player.
- Excellent, effective communication skills, both oral and in written format, creating and delivering business presentations.
- Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, able to create complex formulas and pivot tables.
- Knowledge and experience with Great Plains Dynamics is desirable.
- Able to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
- Highly organized, possessing a solid ability to plan and follow up.
- Possess sound judgement and the ability to effectively problem solve and/or escalate accordingly.
- Resourceful self-starter, able to work independently and within a team environment.
- Able to handle a variety of projects and produce work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Able to multi-task, manage and meet deadlines and adapt easily to change.
- Bilingual in French is considered an asset.
$95,000 - $98,000 / year
