Overview:
Our client is hiring a Project Controller to serve as the independent financial authority across long term, complex programs. This role is critical to maintaining financial discipline, forecasting accuracy, and early risk identification across active projects. You will partner closely with project and operations leaders, providing clear financial insight that directly influences program outcomes and scalability.
This is a hands on role that goes beyond reporting. The Project Controller will own project financial integrity from setup through execution, support decision making, and help evolve project controls and financial processes in a high growth environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Own financial setup and ongoing maintenance of projects within a project accounting system such as NetSuite SuiteProject, including WBS alignment, labor planning, vendor setup, revenue planning, and cash milestone tracking• Lead monthly project financial reporting including revenue, margin, cash flow, and variance analysis against forecasts and operating plans
• Proactively identify and escalate risks related to revenue recognition, cash collection, cost performance, and foreign currency exposure
• Manage intercompany transactions, vendor invoices, accruals, reversals, milestone billing, and payment applications
• Develop accurate project forecasts and partner with project managers on variance explanations and recovery strategies
• Perform ad hoc financial modeling to assess impacts of schedule changes, cost shifts, and emerging risks
• Collaborate cross functionally with accounting, project management, and functional leaders to ensure alignment across cost, schedule, and risk tracking
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to reporting, project controls, and project finance systems
• Contribute to the growth of the project finance function with future leadership potential
Qualifications:
• 7 years of experience in project accounting, project controls, or program finance supporting multi year, complex programs
• Strong experience with project accounting or PSA tools; NetSuite SuiteProject strongly preferred
• Solid understanding of GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition
• Advanced Excel skills with strong financial modeling capability
• Experience managing foreign currency exposure and related considerations
• Highly analytical, detail oriented, and comfortable operating independently
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial drivers to project teams and executive leadership
• CPA or CMA preferred but not required
• Experience with project scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project, Planner, or Oracle P6 preferred
