An apparel company in Vernon is looking for an Assistant Controller to join their team.  This person will oversee month-end close, maintain the general ledger, oversee AP and AR, and lead the internal audit.  To be successful in this role, the Assistant Controller will need to have good business acumen, be able to pick up things quickly, and have great communication skills.  Does this sound like you or someone you know?  If so, please read the full Assistant Controller job description below to see if you or someone you know could be a good match!


What do you need for this Assistant Controller role?
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting experience
  • 15-20 years of accounting experience
  • Must have strong and relatively recent apparel and/or retail apparel experience
  • Active CPA will get you more attention
  • Public accounting experience would be nice
What will you do in this Assistant Controller role?
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, in accordance with GAAP
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and standards, including tax laws, financial reporting, and internal policies
  • Coordinate external audits and examinations, liaising with auditors and stakeholders as needed
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll
  • Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy of financial records
  • Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital management to support operational needs, and investment strategies
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop long-term financial strategies and business plans
  • Provide financial insights and recommendation to support key initiatives, investments, and growth opportunities
  • Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Set clear goals and expectations, provide regular feedback and performance evaluations, and support professional development opportunities
