About the Role
A growing, multi-entity services organization is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to lead a high-volume AP function. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing a team of AP professionals and managing the full accounts payable life cycle in a fast-paced, operational environment.
The AP Manager will play a key role in maintaining vendor relationships, ensuring accurate and timely payments, supporting month-end close for AP, and driving process improvements as the organization continues to grow through acquisition.
This is a fully onsite role, but leadership supports flexibility for personal needs such as school pickups or family matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the full cycle accounts payable process across multiple entities
- Manage, train, and develop a team AP specialists
- Review and approve invoices for accuracy, coding, and proper documentation
- Ensure timely payment of vendors and maintain strong vendor relationships
- Release payments and manage payment runs on a consistent cadence
- Reconcile AP-related balance sheet accounts
- Prepare AP accruals and supporting journal entries
- Support month-end close activities related to accounts payable
- Handle high transaction volume, approximately several thousand invoices per month
- Partner with accounting and operations teams to resolve discrepancies
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve efficiencies
- Support onboarding of newly acquired entities into existing AP processes and systems
Qualifications
- Prior experience leading or supervising an accounts payable team
- Strong full cycle accounts payable experience in a high-volume environment
- Experience supporting month-end close and AP-related reconciliations
- Advanced Excel skills including lookups, pivot tables, and summary reporting
- Experience working within an ERP environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
- Comfortable operating in a blue-collar or operational business environment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Nice to Have
- Experience with multi-entity organizations
- Background in services, construction, manufacturing, or similar operational industries
- Experience with AP automation or spend management tools
- Exposure to system integrations related to acquisitions
