Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Position Overview
We are seeking a sophisticated, hands-on Interim CFO to lead our financial operations during a pivotal period of organizational transformation. This role is designed for a transitional leader who excels in complex nonprofit environments, specifically those navigating multi-tier grant compliance and a comprehensive financial system implementation.
You will serve as a strategic partner to the Executive Leadership Team and the Board, ensuring fiscal stability while modernizing our internal controls and reporting infrastructure.
Core Responsibilities
Financial Stewardship & Governance

Executive Leadership: Direct all day-to-day finance functions, including accounting, budgeting, and treasury management, while providing high-level mentorship to the finance team.

Strategic Reporting: Deliver accurate, real-time financial visibility to leadership and the Board to drive data-informed decision-making.

Board Engagement: Lead the preparation and presentation of materials for the Board of Directors and Finance Committee.

Audit & Compliance: Ensure total audit readiness and strengthen internal controls; serve as the primary liaison for external auditors.
Grant & Funding Management

Public Funding Oversight: Manage the full lifecycle of city, state, and federal grants, ensuring rigorous adherence to reporting and compliance requirements.

Restricted Funds: Establish precise tracking for restricted funding and grant expenditures to ensure 100% alignment with donor and government mandates.

Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Program and Grants teams to synchronize financial management with operational funding needs.
Systems Transformation

ERP Implementation: Drive the final stages of a new financial system rollout, ensuring "go-live" readiness, data integrity, and seamless vendor integration.

Operational Readiness: Identify and mitigate implementation risks while training staff on new workflows.

Optimization: Build post-implementation controls and reporting capabilities to maximize the ROI of the new technology.
The Ideal Profile

Nonprofit Finance Expert: You have held the CFO or Senior Finance Leader title within a nonprofit and possess a deep understanding of the sector’s unique fiscal demands.

Compliance Specialist: You have a proven track record managing complex government grants (City/State/Federal) and navigating the intricacies of restricted funding.

Change Agent: You have successfully led or supported an ERP/financial system implementation and understand the technical and cultural shifts required for success.

Interim Professional: You specialize in transitional leadership roles, with the ability to "parachute in," assess gaps quickly, and provide immediate stability.

Strategic & Tactical: You are comfortable presenting in the boardroom and equally capable of rolling up your sleeves to resolve operational gaps.
