he Credit Collections Manager will be responsible for conducting credit investigations, evaluating and reviewing the credit worthiness of customers to minimize the organization’s credit risk, and recommending accounts for collections. This role will also manage the organization’s most complex, large, or difficult credit accounts, monitoring the status of credit and collection activities to identify problems as well as review, monitor, and collect outstanding freight issues. The Credit Collections Manager will also communicate DSO, Aging and other analysis as requested to upper management and auditors, providing a synopsis of potential credit risk and recommended action (ie. write off to bad debt, increase reserve, or try to collect, etc). Furthermore, the incumbent should be a member of the NGMC, a full-service industry trade group management organization specializing in credit, accounts receivable, and customer service/supply chain functions. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Contact customers by their prescribed method (letter, website, etc) requesting payment of past due invoices, invalid deductions, and freight claim issues.
  • Research deductions taken by customers to determine validity – if valid, determine the correct account to write deduction off to, and if not valid, communicate with customer and provide analysis that supports why the deduction must be repaid.
  • Monitor the status of repayment and following up with Customers as needed to ensure invoices are not improperly written off.
  • Communicate with Sales on credit holds or deduction issues.
  • Research issues associated with non-payment of invoices to either collect them from the customer by presenting information in the customer defined format, or requesting a credit memo.
  • File bankruptcy document claims with the courts.

  • Work with Customers that do not merit the requested credit limit to help them continue to purchase product (ie. COD, Cash in Advance, etc.) to allow Sales to continue to sell to them while mitigating risk.
  • Review credit of customers based on information gathered from different credit groups to adjust limits as needed.
  • Work on various projects cross-functionally as needed.
