Title: Contract Analyst
Salary: $35-$38/hour
Location: NYC, 4 days onsite
Duration: Open Ended Contract

Description:

A growing nonprofit organization in New York City is seeking a Contract Analyst to support day-to-day government contract and grant activity. This is a strong opportunity for someone with nonprofit contract, grant, or accounting-related experience who enjoys detail-oriented work, budgeting, compliance, reconciliations, and cross-functional coordination.

The Contract Analyst will report to the Contracts & Grants leadership team and will help manage contract/grant budgets, vouchers, reporting, compliance documentation, reconciliations, and audit support. This role has a strong finance/accounting focus, with a contract administration component.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare contract and grant budgets in compliance with contract/grant terms and conditions
  • Prepare contract amendments, close-out budget modifications, and required documentation for government contracts and private grants
  • Process monthly or quarterly vouchers for payments on government contracts and private grants
  • Prepare required consolidated budget and financial reports using New York State reporting systems
  • Coordinate with the budget team on budgeting and variance reporting related to contract and grant revenue and expenses
  • Provide guidance to accounting staff on cost allocation and coding for contract/grant-related expenses
  • Review contracts and grants to ensure compliance with contractual rules and regulations
  • Analyze general ledger accounts related to contracts and grants and record contract-related journal entries
  • Monitor contract payments and prepare monthly reconciliations between voucher amounts and payments received
  • Assist with budget setup for contract funds and salary cost allocations
  • Support government contract audits, compliance audits, and annual year-end audits
  • Interact with internal stakeholders regarding contract and grant-related questions or issues
  • Assist with special projects as needed

Qualifications:

  • 2 years of grant, contract, or related accounting experience
  • Nonprofit experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, ideally in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may also be considered
  • Experience with NYC, NYS, federal, or government-funded contracts/grants preferred
  • Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs
  • Experience with systems such as MIP, ELOCCS, PASSPort, SFS, or similar platforms is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Positive, team-oriented approach with the ability to work well across departments
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
