Vaco is actively searching for a Tax Manager at a mid-sized company in the Richmond area.  Please reach out if you would like to hear more about this amazing opportunity! The role is hybrid and on-site 3 days a week.  Salary range is 100 - 135k plus bonus and benefits'.

The company is seeking a Tax Manager to join its tax team in the Richmond, VA office.  The role partners with the Sr. Tax Manager in the oversight of the operations of the tax team consisting of a tax supervisor, three tax accountants, and one tax assistant. Duties include but are not limited to managing the Tax Supervisor responsible for day-to-day operations, reviewing state and local tax compliance, working with the Sr. Tax Manager to prepare the federal tax return, interacting with leadership and tax consultants, responding to inquiries from taxing authorities, managing tax audits, and conducting tax research.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the company's professional tax team consisting of a tax supervisor, three tax accountants, and a tax assistant.

  • Manage the tax calendar to ensure all compliance obligations are met.

  • Partner with the Sr. Tax Manager in the preparation of the company's Federal Tax Return.

  • Review state and local tax returns prepared by the tax team.

  • Work with the Sr. Tax Manager to provide leadership with all information necessary to meet their tax compliance responsibilities.

  • Interact directly with leaders to obtain information necessary to meet the company's tax compliance responsibilities and to assist with any tax related issues and questions.

  • Respond to inquiries from taxing authorities and manage any tax audits

  • Analyze and research domestic and international tax issues.

  • Highly visible role requiring strong verbal and written communication skills in order to productively interact with Leadership,  outside tax consultants and tax authorities.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business is required and a CPA license or Master’s degree in Taxation is required. 

  • A minimum of 5 years related experience in a structured tax department is required with demonstrated supervisory /leadership abilities.

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task/prioritize in a fast paced, changing work environment. 

  • Customer service oriented with excellent interpersonal communication skills, exhibiting patience and tact in stressful situations.

  • Advanced analytical/problem solving skills.

  • Ability to effectively lead, motivate, delegate to and direct others.

  • Advanced level knowledge of MS Excel and Word and computerized tax preparation and research software.

The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
