Position Summary:
The Executive Director holds the top operational position within the organization, overseeing all aspects of management and strategic direction in collaboration with the Board of Directors. This role is responsible for ensuring the organization's mission is achieved through effective leadership, comprehensive planning, and continuous improvement across all functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement Board-approved business plans that align with the organization's mission and strategic objectives.
- Operational Management: Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, and adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
- Program Oversight: Lead the planning, implementation, and execution of the organization's programs, services, and special projects to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
- Organizational Development: Foster a positive, safe, and legally compliant work environment, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
- Human Resources Management: Determine staffing needs, establish clear personnel policies, and provide coaching and mentorship to staff. Conduct regular performance evaluations.
- Financial Management: Work with the Board and Finance Committee to develop and manage the organization's budget, ensuring financial stability and risk management.
- Communication and Collaboration: Serve as the primary liaison between employees and the Board of Directors, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
- Community Engagement: Cultivate relationships with external stakeholders and partners to enhance the organization's visibility and impact.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in senior leadership roles, preferably within non-profit organizations.
- Experience growing revenue, managing costs, improving marketing programs, obtaining sponsorships
- 10 years of leadership, senior management experience
- Marketing, PR, experience as a fundraiser is highly sought after for this position
- Experience with museums or historical centers is highly preferred
- Strong strategic planning and operational management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a Board of Directors and lead diverse teams.
- Passion for culture, history, and community engagement.
- Willingness to work on-site in Bristol, TN, five days a week.
Compensation:
Salary: Base salary of $90,000, with potential adjustments based on candidate qualifications.
