Role Summary
The Accountant supports the delivery of accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting across the Group’s European entities. Reporting to the Finance Manager and working within a Corporate Finance team, the role assists in accounts preparation for designated subsidiaries and supports statutory reporting, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The role requires a methodical, detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment and consistently meets tight deadlines. The Accountant will work closely with stakeholders across Finance and the wider business to ensure robust financial control, high-quality reporting, and process efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts for a number of European subsidiaries, including balance sheet and profit and loss reporting.
- Prepare, review, and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timely resolution of reconciling items.
- Prepare and post journals, including expenses, accruals, prepayments, and other month-end adjustments, in line with accounting standards and internal policies.
- Support the preparation of statutory accounts and assist with audit processes, including responding to auditor queries and providing supporting documentation.
- Assist with report analysis and data verification to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial information.
- Ensure all financial controls, policies, and procedures are consistently adhered to across assigned entities.
- Assist in reviewing, strengthening, and implementing financial processes and control environments.
- Identify errors, inefficiencies, or process gaps and proactively suggest and support improvements.
- Participate in financial standards setting and forecasting processes in collaboration with senior finance stakeholders.
- Support system implementations, upgrades, and migrations, including user testing and data validation where required
- Assist with invoice approval workflows, payment runs, Credit Card processing and urgent payments
- Provide support on ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting requests to support business decision-making.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment, sharing knowledge and supporting wider Corporate Finance objectives.
Experience & Skills Required
Work Experience & Qualifications
- Qualified or newly qualified accountant
- Ideally 2 years relevant accounting experience.
- Proven experience supporting or leading month-end close processes in a multi-entity environment.
- Experience working within a fast-paced, multi-site or international business environment.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV or similar ERP systems preferred.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including reconciliations, journals, and financial controls.
- Highly analytical, methodical, and accurate, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with confidence handling large data sets.
- Able to interpret financial data, identify trends, and highlight risks or anomalies.
- Highly organised with a proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
- Self-starter who demonstrates ownership, accountability, and personal responsibility.
- Flexible and adaptable, able to respond effectively to changing business demands.
- Personable and collaborative, with the resilience to challenge and uphold standards when required.
- Team-oriented mindset with a continuous improvement approach and willingness to support others.
- Motivated, driven, and capable of working independently while contributing to team success.
