Job Title: Accounting Clerk

They are currently seeking a skilled Accounting Clerk with experience in retail, inventory management, and heavy data entry to join their team.

Position Overview: The Accounting Clerk will be a key player in supporting our financial and inventory operations. This role involves extensive data entry responsibilities, along with managing accounting and inventory tasks. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of retail accounting, experience with inventory management, and strong data entry skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Entry:

    • Perform heavy data entry tasks, including inputting and updating financial transactions, inventory records, and sales data into accounting and inventory management systems.
    • Ensure accuracy and completeness of data entered and maintain data integrity.
  • Transaction Processing:

    • Record and verify daily retail sales transactions, including cash, credit card, and check payments.
    • Reconcile daily cash and credit card receipts against sales reports to ensure accuracy.
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable:

    • Process and verify invoices related to retail purchases and inventory, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
    • Prepare and process payments for vendors and suppliers, managing payment schedules.
    • Monitor and follow up on outstanding accounts receivable to ensure timely collection.
  • Inventory Management:

    • Assist with tracking and managing inventory levels, including recording stock quantities and monitoring for discrepancies.
    • Reconcile inventory records with physical stock counts and investigate any variances.
    • Support inventory audits and ensure proper documentation for inventory transactions.
  • Financial Reporting:

    • Assist in preparing financial reports and summaries related to retail operations and inventory, including sales and expense reports.
    • Support month-end and year-end closing processes with accurate financial and inventory data.
  • Record Keeping:

    • Maintain accurate and organized financial and inventory records and files.
    • Ensure all documentation is properly filed and easily accessible.
  • Customer Service:

    • Address and resolve accounting and inventory-related inquiries from customers and vendors in a professional manner.
  • Compliance:

    • Assist in ensuring compliance with company policies, retail accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Support internal and external audits as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience:

    • Proven experience as an Accounting Clerk or similar role in a retail environment with inventory management responsibilities.
    • Demonstrated experience with heavy data entry tasks and a high level of accuracy.
  • Skills:

    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
    • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
    • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
