We are seeking an accomplished and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our clients’ financial operations in a dynamic real estate development environment. The CFO will play a critical role as part of the executive leadership team, overseeing all financial functions including planning, analysis, accounting, and investor relations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction or a related industry, with a proven track record in financial management and strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Ensure the preparation and presentation of precise financial statements and reports, aligning with GAAP and industry standards.
  • Cash Flow Management: Oversee and regulate cash flow to maintain adequate liquidity for operational demands and strategic investments.
  • Accounting Operations: Direct daily accounting operations, including the management of accounts payable.
  • Construction Project Accounting: Supervise accounting for construction projects, encompassing job cost tracking, project budgeting, and profitability assessments.
  • Financial Strategy & Policies: Formulate and enforce financial strategies, policies, and procedures to drive the company's growth and operational objectives.
  • Strategic Financial Analysis: Provide the CEO and executive team with strategic recommendations based on thorough financial analysis and projections. Conduct detailed financial analysis to support business decisions, focusing on profitability and cost control.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the financial planning process, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial modeling.
  • Internal Controls: Establish and maintain robust internal controls to protect company assets and ensure financial integrity.
  • AIA Forms & Billing: Oversee the preparation and review of AIA forms, ensuring billing accuracy, contract compliance, and timely payment submissions.
  • Construction Contracts Management: Manage the financial aspects of construction contracts, including change orders, contract modifications, and adherence to payment schedules, ensuring meticulous tracking of contract terms and project milestones.
  • Collaboration with Field Teams: Work closely with the field team on the financial aspects of construction projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking, to ensure financial performance meets project goals.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, safeguarding the company’s financial health.
  • Audit Coordination: Coordinate and manage both internal and external audits, ensuring their timely completion and addressing any findings effectively.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary contact for financial matters with external stakeholders, including banks, auditors, and investors.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • At least 10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with a minimum of 4 years’ experience within the construction industry.
  • Extensive experience in financial leadership roles, preferably within real estate development or a related industry.
  • Proven track record in financial planning, analysis, and strategy development.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in managing financial aspects of construction projects, including project accounting and contract management.
  • Proficiency with financial software and systems, including experience with construction accounting software.

  • the individual’s skill sets, experience and training;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
