Job Title: Bookkeeper

Job Overview: As a Bookkeeper for our client, you will be essential in maintaining the financial integrity of the organization. You will manage day-to-day financial transactions, ensure accurate record-keeping, and provide critical support for financial operations. Your role will be vital in ensuring that financial resources are effectively utilized to further the organization’s mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Record-Keeping:

    • Maintain precise and up-to-date records of all financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
    • Process and record transactions in accounting software, ensuring adherence to organizational financial policies and procedures.
  • Bank Reconciliation:

    • Conduct regular reconciliation of bank statements and financial accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
  • Expense Management:

    • Review and process invoices, expense reports, and reimbursements, ensuring proper documentation, approval, and alignment with the budget.
    • Track and manage expenditures to ensure compliance with budgetary constraints and organizational policies.
  • Payroll Assistance:

    • Support payroll processing, including maintaining accurate employee records, calculating wages, and ensuring timely and accurate payments.
    • Coordinate with external payroll providers or in-house payroll systems as needed.
  • Financial Reporting:

    • Prepare regular financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to provide insights into the organization’s financial status.
    • Assist with financial audits and provide necessary documentation and reports to auditors.
  • Compliance and Documentation:

    • Ensure compliance with nonprofit financial regulations and standards.
    • Maintain organized and accurate records of all financial documents, including receipts, invoices, and contracts.
  • Budget Support:

    • Assist in budget preparation and monitoring, providing financial insights and analysis to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Customer Service:

    • Provide excellent support to staff and stakeholders regarding financial inquiries, payment issues, and other related matters.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably in a nonprofit setting, is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ethics: High level of integrity and confidentiality in handling financial information.
  • Team Player: Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and other departments.

The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
