Jr. Network Engineer POST NUMBER: 423368
We are in need of a Jr. Network Engineer for our client located in the Osceola, AR area. This position would be a hybrid role requiring 3 days a week on site. Currently our client is working with a third-party vendor to manage the wireless switch from Cisco Meraki to Cisco Catalyst.
Job Overview: As a Junior Network Associate, you will assist in the management, maintenance, and support of our network infrastructure with a primary focus on Cisco Catalyst switches. You will work closely with senior network engineers to ensure optimal network performance, reliability, and security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Support: Assist in the configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of Cisco Catalyst switches and other network equipment.
- Installation and Maintenance: Support the installation, setup, and ongoing maintenance of network hardware and software, ensuring compliance with company standards.
- Monitoring: Regularly monitor network performance and connectivity issues, using network management tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, changes, and incidents to ensure effective tracking and reporting.
- Assistance: Provide technical support to internal teams and end-users regarding network-related issues, including connectivity problems and hardware malfunctions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with senior network engineers and IT staff to resolve complex network issues and implement network upgrades and improvements.
- Security: Assist in implementing network security measures, including access controls and monitoring for potential security threats.
- Training: Participate in ongoing training and development to stay current with industry trends, technologies, and Cisco Catalyst features.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a network support or related role is preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Basic knowledge of Cisco Catalyst switches and their configuration.
- Familiarity with networking concepts including VLANs, IP addressing, and routing.
- Understanding of network protocols and troubleshooting techniques.
- Certifications: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methods.
