Role: Human Resources Director
Salary: $130,000 - $150,000/annually

Location: Downtown, Manhattan - *5 days a week onsite*

Job Description: Human Resources Director

Position Summary:

The Human Resources Director will play a critical role in driving our organization's success by providing strategic leadership and operational excellence in all aspects of human resources management. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing HR functions within a unionized or educational environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic HR Leadership:

    • Develop and implement comprehensive HR strategies aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
    • Advise senior leadership on HR policies, procedures, and initiatives.
    • Oversee the development and implementation of HR metrics to measure performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Union Relations:

    • Effectively manage and negotiate labor contracts with unions.
    • Resolve labor disputes and grievances in a timely and fair manner.
    • Maintain strong relationships with union representatives.
  • Talent Acquisition and Management:

    • Develop and implement effective talent acquisition strategies to attract and recruit top talent.
    • Oversee onboarding, training, and development programs to enhance employee skills and performance.
    • Manage employee relations and address performance issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Compensation and Benefits:

    • Develop and administer competitive compensation and benefits packages.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations.
    • Manage employee leaves of absence and disability claims.
  • HR Operations:

    • Oversee the day-to-day HR operations, including payroll, benefits administration, and recordkeeping.
    • Implement and maintain HR systems and databases.
    • Ensure compliance with HR best practices and industry standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Master's degree in Human Resources Management or a related field preferred.  
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior HR leadership role within a unionized or educational environment.
  • Proven track record in managing all aspects of HR functions, including talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and benefits, and HR operations.
  • Strong knowledge of labor relations and collective bargaining.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with employees, managers, and union representatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with HR information systems and software.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a non-profit or public sector organization.
  • Certification in Human Resources Management (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR).

  • the individual’s skill sets, experience and training;

The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
