Vaco is partnered with a high growth client on a key hire as VP of Software Development. In this role, you will be directly responsible for leading a team of developers on key initiatives related to research, development, and growth. You will be responsible for a continuous flow of innovation leading to the improvement of existing products, incorporation of newly acquired product sets into the current list of corporate assets, integration of third-party solutions with internal products, and operational excellence of the development team. Position Responsibilities:
  • Translating business goals & product requirements into actionable development plans.
  • Engage with business and technology teams on security best practices
  • Ensuring that development projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Strategic planning, direction, and control of product development activities; as well as technical input into the overall business strategy.
  • Maintaining awareness of the competitive landscape for differentiators and gaps.
  • Planning, communicating, and coaching for the professional growth and leadership development opportunities of the development team.
  • Ownership of all financial aspects of the development team, such as forecasting, reconciliation, analysis, and actionable insights.
  • Proactively nurturing and building channels of communication across business units to ensure collaboration and achievement of organizational goals.
  • Providing technical direction and guidance for all product development needs throughout the organization.
  • Continually evaluating the organizational structure, methodologies, and technologies to enhance productivity and implementing appropriate changes.
  • Communicating cybersecurity industry trends and emerging new technologies that can provide the organization with an advantage.
  • Managing strategic partnerships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Conceive, develop, and drive the technology facets of the product roadmaps to position the team for long term success and minimize attrition risks from competitors.
Position Requirements:
  • 10 years of progressive experience in development with 5 years of leadership.
  • Previous experience in cybersecurity or deep understanding of security is required.
  • Blend of hands on coding (5-10%), code reviews, mentoring and strategic vision. Looking for someone to bring fresh ideas and approach to the company.
  • Strong experience in full-stack development preferred.
    • Deep into the nuances of ES6 JavaScript and TypeScript
    • Using modern React and/or ReactFlow
    • Strong knowledge of Azure ecosystem
    • Version control systems, Git
    • Honing our GraphQL-based services
    • Knowledge of Elastic, Postgres and Prisma (or Prisma Pulse) are very nice to have.
  • Experience in leading, managing, and mentoring a team of developers.
  • Strong experience and understanding of, and ability to, professionally review and document code.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and project management skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, technical degree or relevant field.
