Accounting Management 
Grant Accounting | Consulting / Client Services | Non-profit | On-site - Raleigh, NC

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join a growing team that provides accounting and compliance services to a diverse portfolio of clients. This position offers the opportunity to work with businesses across various industries, providing essential financial expertise and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting and financial reporting, with a focus on managing multiple client engagements. The role reports to senior leadership within the finance and accounting department and will be responsible for overseeing a team of accountants, ensuring quality service delivery, and providing strategic accounting support to clients.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of client engagements, providing accounting and compliance services across a range of industries.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records, including the preparation and review of journal entries, financial reports, and other financial statements.
  • Provide expertise in GAAP, grant accounting, and compliance with federal and state regulations, guiding clients through complex accounting issues.
  • Develop and implement internal controls, ensuring clients' accounting systems are operating effectively and in accordance with best practices.
  • Prepare financial reports and provide detailed analysis for clients on a regular basis.
  • Assist clients with government grant accounting, reporting, and compliance needs, including preparing indirect rate agreements and incurred cost submissions.
  • Lead clients through the establishment of internal accounting frameworks and processes that comply with applicable regulations.
  • Represent clients in negotiations with external auditors and regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance with financial and accounting standards.
  • Mentor and lead a team of accountants, providing guidance and professional development opportunities to support their growth.
  • Participate in internal process improvement projects, helping to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency.

Core Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead multiple engagements and meet deadlines.
  • Mentorship and leadership skills to develop high-performing accounting teams.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to resolve complex accounting and compliance challenges.
  • Ability to communicate complex accounting concepts to clients without financial backgrounds.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and proficiency with accounting software.
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce errors.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent professional qualification.
  • At least 8 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a consulting or client-facing role.
