Chief Financial Officer
Work-In-Progress | GAAP | Construction 
We are partnering with a construction company in search of a Chief Financial Officer to oversee the financial strategy and operations of the company. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of construction finance, including WIP schedules, with experience managing a substantial volume of projects monthly. Qualified candidates will need to be located or willing to relocate to the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill and surrounding area. Our client is offering a generous compensation package as well as a relocation package to offset moving costs if candidates are not already local to the area.

Responsibilities
  • Define and drive the company’s financial strategy and planning, aligned with the overall corporate strategy and financial goals.
  • Lead annual budget creation, financial forecasting, and ensure financial statement accuracy.
  • Collaborate on long-term Corporate Strategic and annual Business Plans.
  • Evaluate new services, geographies, and growth initiatives for financial impact.
  • Conduct strategic analyses to drive business decisions beyond financial metrics.
  • Provide historical financial data and trend analyses to optimize profitability.
  • Perform sensitivity analyses for future opportunities and strategies.
  • Manage accounting software enhancements and oversee departmental improvements.
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team for high performance and compliance.
  • Directly manage the Corporate Controller and oversee external reporting.
  • Ensure adequate working capital and optimize cash flow strategies.
  • Safeguard fixed assets and analyze lifecycle and profitability.
  • Monitor contract terms and manage lien rights for financial integrity.
  • Manage company financial stability, borrowing initiatives, and bonding requirements.
  • Evaluate leasing options to optimize financial resources and support capital structure.
  • Collaborate across business units to support corporate strategy and financial goals.
  • Provide financial expertise and consultation at all management levels.
  • Drive pricing strategies and financial decision-making to maximize ROI.
  • Act as primary liaison with external stakeholders and communicate company initiatives proactively.
  • Manage and optimize accounting systems, driving improvements to support business needs.
  • Conduct risk assessments, develop SOPs, and monitor control performance through KPI reporting.
  • Lead significant financial and business projects as required.
  • Support cross-departmental special projects outside of accounting.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is required, master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience in senior financial leadership roles, ideally within the construction industry.
  • CPA is required.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and in accounting applications (server/cloud-based), software requirements, and conversions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
