About the Opportunity
- Manage and co-ordinate all aspects of the U.S. tax compliance process, including the preparation of the consolidated U.S. corporate tax return encompassing federal, state, and local filings.
- Prepare and oversee the preparation of various international tax filings, such as forms 5471, 5472, as well as calculations for GILTI, FDII, and BEAT.
- Review the Sec. 174 R&D analyses prepared by external tax advisors to ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
- Prepare quarterly tax provisions of all U.S. entities in accordance with IFRS for financial reporting purposes.
- Stay current on the latest U.S. tax developments and issues to ensure proactive compliance and strategic alignment.
- Liaison with external tax advisors to understand sales tax, property tax, franchise tax requirements for the portfolio and communicate the same to business units to ensure compliance.
- Conduct tax research to identify opportunities for tax savings and operational efficiencies, contributing to continuous process improvements.
- Participate in tax due diligence as it relates to our US-based acquisitions as needed.
- Assist with U.S. state tax audits with the IRS, state and local tax departments facilitating communication and coordination during tax audits and preparing necessary responses.
- Provide support and assistance in various ad hoc projects as needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in addressing evolving business needs.
- Travel is approximately 2-3 times per year (around once per quarter), with potential travel to the UK and various locations in the US.
About You
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in U.S. consolidated tax compliance and financial reporting.
- In-depth understanding of U.S. tax laws and regulations, including experience with federal, state, and local tax filings.
- Experience in navigating Sec. 174 Research and Development tax credits.
- Solid grasp of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and its application in tax accounting
- Proficiency in conducting U.S. tax research to support informed decision-making.
- Strong working knowledge of computerized accounting systems (i.e. BPC, NetSuite), OneSource, and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
- Software industry experience an asset.
Salary Range
Up to $130,000/year
