Role: Director of Accounting
Salary: $140,000 -$160,000  negotiable based on experience and qualifications 
Location: Syosset, New York - (Hybrid - 1-2 days a week onsite, highly preferred, open to someone in NJ who is able to come in for a 3-4 day stretch as well. 

Job Responsibilities:
Position Overview:
The Director of Collections and Billing is responsible for overseeing and managing the company’s A/R, billing and collections processes. This leadership role involves directing the billing operations, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing, optimizing cash flow, managing outstanding accounts, and implementing strategies to reduce bad debt. The director will work closely with finance, accounting, and customer service teams to develop and enforce policies, drive improvements, and ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal standards.

  • Manage and oversee the Firm’s revenue process from end-to-end, including client on-boarding,
    invoicing, and collections to ensure timely and accurate payment from clients.
  • Oversee and streamline the billing process to ensure timely, accurate invoicing and revenue recognition.
  • Supervise a team of billing specialists to ensure all billing functions are executed correctly and efficiently.
  • Develop and enforce billing policies and procedures to standardize operations and improve accuracy.
  • Review and approve billing statements, ensuring compliance with contracts, agreements, and customer-specific terms
  • Lead the collections team in recovering outstanding payments from clients and customers, ensuring a high level of customer service.
  • Develop and implement strategies to minimize aging accounts receivable and reduce bad debt.
  • Analyze overdue accounts and direct appropriate follow-up actions to ensure timely payment.
  • Monitor collection trends, evaluate team performance, and report on key metrics related to collections efficiency.



Management: supporting 4 supervisors who support 12-13 employees. 
will be reporting to the CFO 


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field is preferred.
  • 10 years of leading US &/OR international billing & collections teams.
  • Experience working with global billing and collections systems.
  • Strong reporting and Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong background in process improvement and workflow management.
  • Proven success in driving cash collections and improving aging.
  • Proven success in managing and motivating staff.
  • Experience in global professional services industry preferred (i.e., global law firm, “Big 4”, management consulting firm).
  • Ability to influence teams outside of direct circle of control.
