Position Overview:

Job Summary:
The Sr. Accountant, Restricted Funds is responsible for managing the accounting and financial reporting for grants, restricted gifts, and other special funding sources. This role ensures compliance with grant agreements, donor restrictions, and internal policies. The ideal candidate will work closely with program staff, development teams, and external stakeholders to support the financial integrity and strategic objectives of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Grant and Restricted Fund Management:
    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all grants and restricted funds, including budget tracking, expense allocation, and reporting.
    • Ensure all grant expenditures comply with donor restrictions, grant and pledge agreements, and applicable commitments.
    • Monitor grant and restricted gift receipts, ensuring high-dollar donations are tracked, prioritized and communicated to fundraisers.
    • Liaise with Accounting, Development Ops, and Reporting to ensure income and expenses are accurate for all restricted funds across stakeholders.
    • Review and advise on requests for grant modifications within context of organizational policy and commitments.
  2. Financial Reporting and Compliance:
    • Prepare and submit timely financial reports to stakeholders and donors, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completeness.
    • Assist in monitoring grant proposals and providing financial data for grant reporting.
    • Coordinate with auditors for grant-specific audits and ensure compliance with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) and other relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
    • Provide ongoing financial analysis and forecasting to support organizational decision-making related to restricted funds.
  3. Internal Controls and Reconciliation:
    • Record Program Transfers, organize and maintain support documentation.
    • Perform monthly reconciliations of grant and restricted accounts, ensuring accurate and timely allocation of expenses.
    • Maintain strong internal controls over grant and restricted funds, including reviewing transactions and identifying discrepancies.
  4. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with development, program partners, and finance teams to provide clear communication regarding grant financial status and donor restrictions.
    • Serve as the primary liaison for grant-related financial matters with program staff and finance.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Prefer 2-5 years of experience in nonprofit accounting, grant management, or financial reporting.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, grant compliance, and donor restrictions.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Blackbaud) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Fluency in Hebrew is a plus.
