Senior Director, Total Rewards
Location: Remote
Reports To: Vice President, HR Operations & Total Rewards

Overview:
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Senior Director of Total Rewards to lead the compensation and benefits strategies for a large, dynamic organization. This position will oversee the design, implementation, and administration of total rewards programs to align with organizational goals, enhance employee engagement, and drive business success. The role will manage a team of 14, including four direct reports, and requires exceptional leadership and analytical skills, as well as expertise in compensation, benefits, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive total rewards strategy that supports the organization’s goals and financial objectives.
  • Use data analytics and market research to evaluate program effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with finance and accounting teams for accurate budgeting, forecasting, and reporting of total rewards expenses.

Compensation Management:

  • Design and administer competitive compensation programs, including base pay, short- and long-term incentives, commission plans, and executive compensation.
  • Oversee the harmonization of incentive and commission plans for a large Technician and Sales organization (11,000 employees).
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure compensation structures drive desired behaviors and business results.

Benefits Strategy:

  • Evaluate, select, and manage employee benefit programs (retirement and health & welfare) to ensure competitiveness and cost-effectiveness.
  • Lead benefits planning, including RFPs for major coverage lines and analysis of employee feedback.
  • Develop strategies to optimize program ROI and engagement.

Performance and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and international regulations.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance total rewards planning and administration.
  • Reduce attrition through competitive and equitable rewards programs.

Training and Communication:

  • Lead training initiatives and workshops to educate management on total rewards programs.
  • Develop communication strategies to ensure employee awareness and engagement with compensation and benefits offerings.

Department Leadership:

  • Manage and mentor a team of 14 total rewards professionals, including 2 Senior Managers of Compensation and 2 Senior Managers of Benefits.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and integrate best practices to keep the organization agile and competitive.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in total rewards, compensation, and benefits strategy within a fast-paced, high-volume industry such as field services, logistics, retail, or business services.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and inform strategic decisions.
  • Proficiency in compensation/benefits planning software and HRIS, with preferred experience in Workday.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to non-specialist audiences.
  • Highly commercial and entrepreneurial approach, with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
