The ideal candidate brings a strong analytical background, deep understanding of credit markets, and experience in underwriting both merchant and consumer credit.

Key Responsibilities:
Merchant Processing (Indirect Credit):

  • Report and monitor ongoing credit exposure related to chargebacks, returns, reserves, settlement risks, and for PCI compliance.
  • Work closely with risk, operations, and compliance teams to implement and refine credit policies for merchant onboarding and portfolio management.
  • Conduct periodic risk reviews and identify deteriorating credit signals to recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor and report on user access and permissions.
Consumer Debt (Direct Credit):
  • Underwrite consumer lending applications using credit bureau data, income verification, and internal models.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to refine credit scoring models and loan terms.
  • Report and monitor portfolio performance metrics including: applications, loan book growth, revenue,  delinquency rates, pay-offs, charge-offs, and customer repayment behavior.
  • Monitor and report on user access and permissions.
  • Provide insights into customer segmentation and risk-adjusted pricing strategies.
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures.
Capital Raise Support:
  • Develop materials and financial analysis to support investor due diligence and capital raise activities (e.g., debt facilities, securitizations, equity raises).
  • Assist in the structuring and evaluation of debt instruments, including loan sale transactions, warehouse lines, etc.
  • Partner with treasury and FP&A teams to align funding strategies with portfolio growth and risk profile.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience in credit analysis or underwriting, preferably in fintech, merchant services, or consumer lending.
  • Deep knowledge of credit risk management principles, underwriting standards, and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Strong financial modeling, Excel, and data analytics skills; experience with SQL, Python, or BI tools is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting capital raise or investor relations efforts is highly desirable.
Preferred Attributes:
  • Experience working in a high-growth or startup environment.
  • Familiarity with payment processing infrastructure and settlement risk dynamics.
  • Comfortable operating cross-functionally in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
