Overview

Vaco is seeking a talented Technical Lead Developer with strong PowerBuilder and .NET Integrations experience to lead a Scrum Team that will be responsible for supporting and enhancing a core business application in the Healthcare industry used by over 5,000 individual users daily. This role requires expertise in PowerBuilder development, along with enterprise-level .NET development and integrations experience. The Tech Lead will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving existing applications while leading development modernization efforts, database modernization efforts, and focusing on future efforts of on-prem to cloud migrations.  This position will be required to work onsite 4-days per week in Addison, TX and candidates must be local to the Dallas/Fort Worth market, as our client is unable to cover relocation expenses at this time.  Candidates must also be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen and must be legally eligible to work in the United States, as our client is unable to sponsor at this time. 


Job Scope:
 
  • Provide technical leadership to a team of engineers, ensuring high-quality software development and best practices.
  • Conduct code reviews, mentor developers, and lead the team in implementing modern development methodologies.
  • Design and implement scalable and efficient solutions for our core business applications.
  • Lead the support and development of a PowerBuilder-based business application, integrating .NET and Microsoft technologies.
  • Work with a Sybase back-end, with planned migration to SQL Server.
  • Contribute to the design and deployment of enterprise-level .NET applications.
  • Support and guide potential migration of some components to the Azure Cloud.
  • Ensure clear and effective communication across the team, stakeholders, and leadership.

Must Have Requirements:
 
  • 8 years of hands-on development experience in PowerBuilder (PowerScript / SQL, PowerBuilder Foundation Class, Custom Libraries, troubleshooting PowerBuilder applications using tools like SQL Trace logs or database execution plan to pinpoint slow SQL queries, optimizing DataWindow SQL, and improving performance
    • Migrating PowerBuilder Applications to newer versions
  • 8 years of hands-on development experience in .NET technologies (C# / .NET, and .NET integrations)
    • .NET Assemblies / WebServices (APIs) / PowerBuilder .NET Components / .NET Compiler / .NET Core | DevOps / CI/CD / Azure DevOps
  • 3 years of experience leading software development teams, to include conducting code reviews, mentoring software engineers, and working with other cross functional teams
    • Lead Teams in the Modernization / Optimization of Mission-Critical Operational Applications
    • Technical Debt Identification – Assess Codebase / Architecture / Overall System Design to Pinpoint Key Areas Hindering Future Development and/or Requiring Significant Effort to Address Later | Identify / Address Outdated/Legacy Code / Poor Database Design / Lack of Documentation / No Coding Standardization Practices / Monolithic/Rigid Design / Outdated UI, etc.
  • 5 years of experience working with Source Code Repositories / Version Control Systems – GIT, SVN, TFS – Team Foundation Server, etc.
  • 6 years of experience working within Agile / Scrum Methodology
  • Hands-on experience with Sybase (preferred), with knowledge of SQL Server migration strategies.
  • Familiarity with Azure Cloud and modern cloud-based architectures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with and present to senior leadership

Preferred Experience:
 
  • Experience in the Healthcare industry is a plus.
