Supervisor, Accounts Payable
Located in downtown Toronto, this newly created position will be responsible for managing, mentoring and supporting a small Accounts Payable team throughout the full Accounts Payable processing cycle. This position reports to the Manager, Accounts Payable. The role will partner with property and corporate teams to deliver a high level of client service and ensure accurate and timely Accounts Payable processing.

About the Opportunity

  • Supervise directly an Accounts Payable Clerk & liaise with offsite property administrators to ensure proper procedures occur throughout the Accounts Payable cycle.
  • Provide overall guidance, direction and training to succeed.
  • Responsible for managing timelines and the timely and accurate completion of team contributions.
  • Review and post approved invoices to the GL.
  • Produce and process weekly payment runs (cheque/EFTs).
  • Processing online bills/sales tax payments.
  • Maintain the Accounts Payable sub-ledger, verification of vendor statements and generate Accounts Payable reports as requested.
  • Investigate and action complex, escalated discrepancies.
  • Become a subject matter expert on GL coding and charge backs.
  • Review employee reimbursement form for accuracy.
  • Assist with year-end audits as required.
  • Participate in ad hoc reporting and projects.
  • Proactively identify and analyze opportunities for improving quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of deliverables, and with managerial input take action to put solutions in place to achieve optimal results.
  • Liaise and effectively communicate with property management, asset management, and other stakeholders and functional groups to ensure the accounting team is delivering responsive, top tier service as well as provide assistance and guidance as required.
  • Support positive team dynamics and culture including a positive, open, team focused work atmosphere.

About You
  • Minimum 2 years’ of supervisory experience in the Accounts Payable field.
  • Accounting certificate, diploma or designation is an asset.
  • Time management and workload efficiency skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Accounts Payable experience within the commercial real estate industry is an asset and/or experience with complex coding and charge backs.
  • Demonstrated strong technical competence in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to explore & implement progressive technological & procedural efficiencies.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, ability to prioritize work and concurrently manage multiple tasks, projects and deadlines with attention to detail and timelines.


Salary Range
$29 - $30 an hour
