About the Role:
As Controller, you’ll be the CFO’s right hand, overseeing all accounting operations, ensuring financial compliance, and driving process improvement. This is a high-impact role ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments—especially with experience in consumer goods or beverage sectors.
What You’ll Do:
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Own monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting (GAAP compliant).
- Ensure tax compliance, including sales and excise taxes.
- Deliver financial reporting and analysis for investors, lenders, and board members.
- Manage general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Oversee monthly and year-end close processes.
- Reconcile bank accounts, intercompany transactions, and balance sheet accounts.
- Develop and enforce internal controls and accounting policies.
- Act as primary contact for external audits.
- Conduct internal risk reviews and identify improvement areas.
- Collaborate with CFO on annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
- Perform variance analysis and provide strategic financial insights.
- Build models to support business planning and decisions.
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.
- Optimize ERP and financial systems to scale with growth.
- Ensure financial systems align with operational needs.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing accounting team.
- Promote professional development and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred
- 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including 4 years as a Controller or Assistant Controller
- Experience in a private equity-backed and high-growth environment
- Background in consumer products or distribution (beverage industry a plus)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting
- Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, etc.) and Excel
- Familiarity with sales and excise tax compliance
- Public accounting (Big 4 or super-regional) experience is a plus
