Finance Manager - 12 Month Contract POST NUMBER: 451223
Our client is looking for a Finance Manager for a 12-month contract.
About the Opportunity
General Accounting & Financial Oversight:
- Supervise account reconciliation activities across all general ledger accounts, ensuring timely resolution of outstanding items
- Approve reconciliations and journal entries prepared by junior accounting team members
- Support monthly and quarterly financial close processes, including the preparation and review of journal entries, schedules, and reports
- Produce full financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) and support in delivering financial analysis
- Identify and address financial or operational discrepancies as they arise
- Act as the main point of contact for audit-related requests and ensure accurate and timely documentation
- Prepare and file indirect tax returns (e.g., sales tax) and other statutory filings in line with regulatory deadlines
- Review contracts and ensure they meet the financial compliance standards of the organization
- Lead the month-end receivables process, including bad debt analysis, aging reports, and necessary adjustments
- Approve refund transactions and service request workflows in designated platforms
- Respond to inquiries related to receivables from internal teams and external partners
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives and systems projects, providing financial input during testing and rollout
- Lead and mentor accounting staff, ensuring a collaborative and productive work environment
- Drive process enhancements and efficiencies within accounting and reporting workflows
About You
- Post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance; professional designation (e.g., CPA) is required
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience managing or mentoring others
- Strong understanding of private-sector accounting frameworks (e.g., ASPE); familiarity with non-profit standards is beneficial
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft 365; knowledge of tools like Power BI and VBA is considered an asset
- Hands-on experience with enterprise accounting systems; involvement in system upgrades or implementations is a plus
- High attention to detail, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to meet tight deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally
- Discretion and professionalism when dealing with sensitive or confidential information
