Position Overview
The Application Development Manager will lead a diverse team of developers and technical resources responsible for building and supporting multiple enterprise-level applications. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on solving complex problems through data-driven analysis, understands how business, financial, and operational systems intersect and has a proven ability to drive results across globally distributed teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct the design, development, and integration of business-critical applications including customer data platforms, onboarding systems, and internal financial tools.
- Guide teams in implementing API-driven solutions and integrating third-party systems, ensuring performance, scalability, and long-term maintainability.
- Use analytical tools and performance data to identify delays, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies in development workflows and implement corrective strategies.
- Lead initiatives around Master Data Management (MDM) ensuring accurate, consistent, and accessible core business data (customers, vendors, financials) across integrated systems and applications.
- Coordinate with technical and business stakeholders to gather requirements, prioritize initiatives, and deliver solutions that align with broader business objectives.
- Lead the development and enforcement of coding standards, architectural principles, and agile best practices across internal and external teams.
- Oversee vendor relationships and ensure successful delivery of outsourced or third-party development work, including offshore team coordination.
- Monitor and report on project progress, resource allocation, and team performance using defined metrics and KPIs.
- Ensure application development efforts support business continuity, data security, and integration reliability.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and mentorship to team members to develop technical capabilities.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience leading application development teams in a corporate or enterprise environment.
- Experience leading data-centric development initiatives, including designing, integrating, or governing systems that manage structured business data across departments (e.g., Master Data Management platforms, data hubs, or shared service models).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
- Deep familiarity with system integrations, especially through RESTful APIs, messaging queues, and data synchronization processes.
- Understanding of financial systems, accounting workflows, or ERP integrations.
- Ability to lead remote and/or offshore technical teams.
- Proven track record in diagnosing delivery delays and improving development efficiency through tooling, communication, or structural improvements.
- Experience managing multiple development efforts simultaneously in an Agile or hybrid environment.
- Proficiency in interpreting complex requirements, building cross-functional alignment, and translating business needs into technical outcomes.
Preferred Skills:
- Solid working knowledge of SQL and data pipelines.
- Experience working with cloud-native platforms or microservices.
- Familiarity with analytics tools to monitor application and team performance.
- Understanding of DevOps principles and CI/CD tooling.
- Exposure to transportation, logistics, or distribution settings and associated systems.
