

Director of Payroll POST NUMBER: 440224
The ideal candidate will have high-volume payroll experience across 47 states and supporting thousands of employees within a healthcare setting.
This will be overseeing multiple payroll schedules, complex payrolls to include commission, bonuses and shift differentials, and leading a team of 1.
Duties:
- Payroll Oversight: Direct and manage the payroll process for healthcare employees across 47 states, ensuring accurate and timely payroll disbursement while adhering to all applicable state and federal laws.
- Compliance & Regulations: Ensure compliance with tax regulations, wage laws, and reporting requirements across multiple states. Stay updated on federal and state payroll laws and regulatory changes, adjusting payroll practices as necessary.
- Process Improvement: Lead efforts to improve payroll processes and systems, leveraging technology to increase efficiency and accuracy in payroll processing. Implement and maintain best practices in payroll management.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a direct report, providing guidance and support to ensure optimal performance. Foster a collaborative, high-performing work environment.
- Collaboration: Work closely with HR, benefits, and finance teams to ensure smooth data flow and alignment of payroll with employee benefits, deductions, and other compensation elements.
- Audits & Reporting: Oversee the preparation and submission of payroll reports, tax filings, and other financial documentation. Perform internal audits to ensure payroll data accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Employee Support: Provide exceptional customer service to employees regarding payroll inquiries, issues, or concerns, offering guidance and resolving matters efficiently.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Collaborate with senior leadership to forecast payroll costs and assist in budgeting for healthcare staffing, salaries, and other related expenses.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Certification in Payroll (e.g., CPP) is highly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in payroll management, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role. Experience in healthcare payroll processing across multiple states is required.
- Skills & Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of multi-state payroll processing, tax laws, and regulations.
- Strong proficiency with payroll software and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and develop a small team.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
