Job Title: Director, Accounts Payable Operations (Contract)
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite: Tues–Thurs)
Compensation: $80–$85/hour
Duration: 6-Month Contract (Potential for Extension)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, Full-Time

Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned Director of Accounts Payable Operations to support a high-profile media and entertainment client during a critical period of system transition. This is a 6-month contract role with strong potential for extension. You will play a key role in ensuring the day-to-day success of global AP operations while the team focuses on a major SAP S/4HANA implementation. This is an individual contributor role with high visibility and cross-functional interaction across Finance, IT, Treasury, and Procurement.

Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable Oversight & Operations

  • Manage daily AP activities including invoice processing, vendor master data, disbursements, and aged items across onshore/offshore teams

  • Lead governance of BPO providers through KPIs, SLAs, and escalation resolution

  • Act as point of contact for critical AP escalations across business units, Treasury, IT, and senior leadership

  • Develop, monitor, and report on key operational metrics (KPIs/CPIs)

  • Identify and resolve inefficiencies through root cause analysis and long-term solutions

Process Improvement & Strategy

  • Drive continuous improvement across AP functions and influence adoption of best practices

  • Support ongoing standardization and operational transformation initiatives

  • Partner with the Global Process Owner on optimization opportunities including automation and system enhancements

  • Maintain an agile, data-informed approach to process change and decision-making

Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure full compliance with SOX, audit requirements, and internal control frameworks

  • Support internal and external audits, ensuring documentation and responsiveness

  • Develop and enforce AP policies, procedures, and controls

Collaboration & Technology

  • Work across global teams and time zones to align AP goals with broader financial strategies

  • Partner with IT and other departments to resolve system issues and enhance process reliability

  • Leverage systems such as SAP (S/4HANA), Excel, and other AP platforms for reporting and data analysis

Qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience in Accounts Payable or Procure-to-Pay operations within a large, global organization

  • 5 years of experience managing or leading global, cross-functional teams or processes

  • Proven experience in process improvement, metrics-driven performance, and data analytics

  • Hands-on experience with SAP (preferably SAP S/4HANA) and strong Excel skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA a plus)

  • Strong understanding of vendor management, payment processing, and internal controls

  • Entertainment or media industry experience a plus
