Salary: $110,000-130,000 base plus bonus
Job Summary:
A well-established property management firm is seeking a seasoned and motivated Community Manager to oversee day-to-day operations of a multifamily residential property in New York City. This role is responsible for maintaining strong relationships with residents, ownership groups, and on-site teams while ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and financial performance.
The ideal candidate will have a proven background in residential property management, particularly within NYC’s rent-regulated environment, and will be passionate about delivering high-quality service to residents and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Resident & Owner Relations
- Serve as the primary liaison between property ownership, asset managers, business partners, and residents.
- Promote resident satisfaction through responsive communication and proactive problem-solving.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with compliance, leasing, accounting, and maintenance departments.
- Oversee day-to-day building operations and ensure timely maintenance and repair of systems and facilities.
- Coordinate and supervise service contracts, vendor relationships, and maintenance staff.
- Respond to emergencies and coordinate appropriate resolution and follow-up actions.
- Manage capital improvement projects and apartment renovations.
- Ensure the property meets all legal, audit, and inspection requirements.
- Contribute to budget planning, forecasting, and expense control.
- Prepare monthly financial and operational reports (variance reports, utility reports, etc.).
- Review invoices, manage vendor payments, and maintain accurate financial records.
- Ensure insurance requirements are up to date and compliant.
- Provide leadership, training, and scheduling for on-site management, maintenance, and leasing staff.
- Set performance goals and hold team accountable for meeting objectives.
- Review and approve leasing commissions and address disputes.
- Oversee contractor work to ensure quality, safety, and minimal disruption to residents.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, real estate, marketing, finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing rent-regulated residential properties in NYC.
- Experience with luxury residential properties and LIHTC units is strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of building operations, maintenance systems, and NYC housing regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- NY Real Estate License (or willingness to obtain within 90 days of employment).
- Familiarity with revenue management programs a plus.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and accountability.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work well under pressure.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on collaboration and service excellence.
- Results-driven with the ability to delegate, coach, and support team growth.
